Cindy Presnell

Cindy is a Missouri Positive Behavior Support Coach and Regional Technical Assistance Facilitator for the Southeast RPDC. She provides consultation, training, and on-going coaching to PBS schools throughout southeast Missouri along with technical support and staff development training for general and special educators. Cindy’s background and education are comprised of special and regular education along with school administration. During her 28 years in public schools she has worked as a special education teacher, director of special education and building principal as well as coordinator for a variety of programs including social workers and student harassment. Her experiences have also provided the opportunity to serve on boards and committees within the community including Community Partnership, Systems of Care and Crisis Team. Cindy holds Bachelor’s Degrees in elementary education and special education, Master’s and Specialist’s Degrees in Educational Administration and is completing her doctoral work in Educational Leadership.
Trainings Cindy has led include Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Planning, Classroom Management, Building Behavioral Support within the Community, Behavior Basics for Paraprofessionals, Behavioral Strategies for All Learners and School Wide Information Systems (SWIS).

Susan Cook
Susan Cook, M.of Ed., has joined the Heart of Missouri RPDC as the Positive Behavior Support Coach. She was the Preschool Education Specialist with CMCHDC-Head Start for three years, providing mentor-coaching, training, supervision, and early childhood expertise to the preschool teaching staff. Her other roles have included being an Adjunct Instructor for Early Childhood coursework at a local community college, being a Child Care Orientation Trainer, being a Winning Teams facilitator, working as an independent trainer to provide training to early childhood professionals and working in the public school setting as a second grade teacher.
During her time with CMCHDC-Head Start, Susan helped implement Positive Behavior Support in Head Start preschool classrooms, first in Boone County, then to the seven other counties being served by CMCHDC-Head Start. She learned first hand what it takes to make Positive Behavior Support successful and provided guidance to teaching staff concerning behavior/classroom management issues.
Susan was one of twenty-five Head Start leaders in the state who attended and graduated from the Missouri Head Start Leadership Institute 2005. She was nominated for the Outstanding Early Childhood Support Award for the AEYC’s Week of the Young Child 2004 and was named in Who's Who in Executives and Professionals 2004.

Gena P. Barnhill, Ph.D.

PBS Coach, Kansas City Regional Professional Development Center
Gena is a Missouri State Positive Behavior Support Coach and Special Education Facilitator for the Kansas City Regional Professional Development Center and the surrounding areas. She provides consultation, technical support and staff development training for general and special educators. Gena is a trained School Wide Information System (SWISTM)) facilitator, Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCABA), and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP). She has worked with children with special needs in medical and educational settings for over 30 years as a Registered Nurse, school counselor, school psychologist, and special education coordinator for a large school district in Missouri. She has worked with children ages 3-21 in the field of education in New Jersey, Florida, Kansas, and Missouri. Gena led social skills training and anger control groups and conducted assessments for students with significant emotional and behavioral challenges in her work as a school psychologist. She holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Services, a Master’s Degree in School Psychology, and an Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology. She completed her doctoral work in the field of Special Education at the University of Kansas with an emphasis in Behavior Disorders, Autism and Asperger Syndrome. Gena conducted research on the behavioral, social/emotional, cognitive, academic, and sensory characteristics of children and youth with Asperger Syndrome as part of the Asperger Syndrome Research Project. She published over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals and is author of the book Right Address … Wrong Planet: Children with Asperger Syndrome Becoming Adults. In addition, she has presented at over 75 conferences, including the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and the Autism Society of America’s (ASA) annual conventions, on autism, Asperger Syndrome and functional behavioral assessment. Gena is on the NASP Expert Database for Asperger Syndrome.

Mickey Hughes

Positive Behavior Facilitator
St. Louis Regional Professional Development Center
Mickey is a Missouri PBS coach based at CSD/RPDC in St. Louis. She provides training, consulting, and on-going coaching to PBS teams in the St. Louis region.
Mickey’s background and education are in the combined fields of education and mental health. She has worked as a special education teacher, a family and adolescent therapist, a social worker in treatment foster care, school social worker, and as a special education program coordinator for students with emotional disturbance.
Mickey has led training in the areas of CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute), SWIS (School Wide Information System), Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Planning, Classroom Management, Working Effectively with Difficult People, Mental Health in Adolescents, Parenting, and Facilitation Skills. She has run support groups and educational groups in for students in school and mental health settings.
