Three Additional Areas of Concern for Service Coordinators

Documentation

Early Intervention Records

Missouri Documentation Requirements

IFSP Documentation

Case Notes

Problem Solving

Boundaries

Realistic and Professional

Relationships

These concerns will be covered in the next lesson with how documentation can help with these issues.

The Purpose of Documentation

The purpose of documentation is two-fold.

  1. Documentation explains what happened so anyone, including a court of law, can carefully understand what occurred during the specified time.
  2. Documentation helps support any billing submitted.

In addition to meeting legal and billing requirements, recording activities with families can provide other benefits to the service coordinator.
