Skills
Participants will receive information about or will practice:
- Informing parents of their choices
- Listening
- Facilitating the IFSP team process
- Writing the IFSP in language that is meaningful to families
- Writing assessment summaries that describe the whole child
- Identifying strengths and needs of the child and the family
- Assisting the family to identify functional child and family outcomes and the criteria for assessing attainment of those outcomes
- Facilitating the development of strategies and activities that are a part of the family’s daily routines
- Identifying appropriate services and their intensity and duration
- Addressing transition issues in a timely manner
- Writing meaningful progress reports
- Reflecting on opportunities and challenges as members of a team supporting families within their natural environments and daily routines
