The Study Guide is a "big picture" look at what is in the module. It will point out the major ideas in the training.
The Participant Packet is a companion set of documents to download and print and should be read and referred to during the video presentation. It is important that you read and study everything thoroughly. The assessment is based on both the information contained in the video and in the Participant Packet. Before viewing the video, please download and print the Participant Packet. If you have challenges downloading or viewing the Participant Packet please look at the alternative formats. These alternate formats are rendered from the original document, some specific formatting was lost in translation.
The Video presentation is about two hours in length. You should view the video while you follow along with the study guide and participant packet. It is viewable with Microsoft Media Player. If your system does not currently have Microsoft Media Player, it will automatically open on your computer when you click to view the video. You can view the video as many times as you like. The video is presented in a format that allows 56k modems with a constant baud rate to view the video. If you cannot see the video (some firewalls, system settings, virus detection, spy ware screening programs, etc., will not allow the video to be seen) the easiest access is normally the closest public library with public Internet terminals. To update your driver for the newest version of Microsoft Media Player click here then follow the directions.
The Assessment opens every Friday at 1:00 a.m. and closes on Monday at 8 a.m. You will have only one chance during this time to complete and submit the assessment. If you fail the assessment you may retake it the following week.
If you plan to enroll as a provider you MUST receive a passing grade on the orientation assessment before you can enroll and start providing services for children and families as a First Steps provider.
